A most enjoyable afternoon of which was held by Carrigaline Active Retirement Association in the Parish Centre last Thursday. 38 members were given a talk and guidance on the card game of Whist by Keith Roberts. The afternoon finished on a high note with the cupán té. Later a group of CARA adjourned to the Carrigaline Court Hotel for a meal and then off to the Carrigaline Musical Society show ‘Broadway and Beyond’ in the Community Centre. This week 15 members are in Killarney for the Christmas Crackers. This Thursday November 24th CARA have a Go for Life session with Ann O’Brien and on December 1st they go on their annual visit to Griffins Garden Centre the bus leaves the hotel at 11 am. December 8th it’s Line Dancing with Frankie and the following Thursday 15th it’s the annual Christmas dinner in the Carrigaline Court Hotel at 12.30pm. New members and new ideas always welcome. Five members of the Carrigaline Mens Shed manned their stand at the Bank of Ireland sponsored Carrigaline Enterprise Town exhibition at the Community School last Friday night. This Thursday a group from Carrigaline will attend a Mens Shed Cluster meeting in Glen Rovers GAA Hall. At the Shed members are preparing to move from their present headquarters. Next week work on their new site at Waterpark is due to start. In the wood workshop bird boxes are being made to order for the coming year. As part of this week 36 girls from St Johns National School went on a nature walk with John Cummins and Tidy Towns committee members. Enroute they did some bulb planting and planted a chestnut tree. It is Tidy Towns way of helping them gain Awards for the school. Last Friday four members of the Tidy Towns committee had a stand at the Carrigaline Enterprise Town exhibition. Tidy Towns have Carrigaline Christmas/New Year cards with a picture of the Centenary Garden available form Maura Allen or Tidy Towns committee members. Two pipers representing the Carrigaline Pipe Band entertained the crowd at he Carrigaline Enterprise Town exhibition in the Community School last Friday evening. On Saturday Steven Stuart led the parade of the County champions Ballygarvan Camogie team from the GAA pitch to Ballygarvan Village where they were greeted by the large crowd of supporters.
