Additional 2,000 tickets released for José Carreras and Katherine Jenkins

Midsummer Concert in Cork

Excitement is building in Cork, as superstars José Carreras and Katherine Jenkins are to play a spectacular Midsummer’s Double Bill concert on Saturday 20th June at Irish Independent Park accompanied by The City of Cork Symphony Orchestra.

This is due to be the biggest concert of Summer 2015 in Cork, with a 12,000 seat capacity at Irish Independent Park. An additional 2,000 tickets have just been released from €45. These are now available at Ticketmaster and from Pro Musica, Oliver Plunkett Street, Cork.

Cork welcomes legendary tenor José Carreras for his first ever performance in the city, while Katherine Jenkins returns, following her sell out shows in City Hall in 2013, where she proved an enormous hit with audiences across all genres and age groups.

A spokesman for the City of Cork Symphony Orchestra said: “We are greatly anticipating these two superstars performing in Cork next month. The opportunity to see José and Katherine singing together is unique and are delighted to release a further 2,000 tickets for this fully seated concert at Independent Park.”

Legendary tenor José Carreras said: “I am thrilled to come to Cork and perform in this unmatched atmosphere. The program will contain great music from Opera, Operetta, Musical and song in an evening to remember!

“Katherine is a beautiful lady a wonderful singer and a very nice colleague. I am very much looking forward to performing with her again. Apart from our solo pieces we will also perform some wonderful duets like the drinking song from “La Traviata”.

Welsh superstar Katherine Jenkins is delighted to return to Cork. “The audiences at City Hall were amazing last time I performed there. To return to sing at a concert of this scale and with José is something I’m really looking forward to and is the only way to better the last time I visited Cork!”

There will be a free Bus Eireann shuttle service from to and from Independent Park to Parnell Plance Bus Station for concert goers as there will be restricted access to Tramore Road, Pearse Road and Curragh Road between 4.30-11.30pm on Saturday 20th June. Bars inside the venue will be open before the performance and during the interval, but bringing food and drink into the ground is not permitted.
